Everton has lost a veteran defender, according to reports.

Gabby George has left Everton Women for an unknown amount to join Manchester United on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old ends her nine-year stint with the Blues by returning to the club whose center of excellence she left in 2014 to move to Merseyside.

One in, one out for Brian Sorensen’s side, as Alyssa Aherne completed a season-long loan move to Everton from Manchester United, completing her move ahead of Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The dynamic young attacker can play across the front line as well as in midfield, giving the Blues even more options this season.

And the 19-year-old is another convert to what the Toffees can achieve for a young career, naming a few players who have benefited from their time on Merseyside.

Everton’s loss of George will be significant. Last season, she captained the team on several occasions and established herself as a vital player in Sorensen’s system, assuming a variety of roles and scoring one or two outstanding goals.
