David Prutton believes he understands why Nottingham Forest’s Gonzalo Montiel struggled on Monday night. The youngster made his Premier League debut as the Reds drew 1-1 with Burnley.
Montiel joined Forest from Sevilla during the summer transfer window. The Reds signed the Sevilla right-sided full-back for a very cheap fee.
Last year, the 26-year-old assisted Argentina in winning the World Cup. He scored the game-winning penalty against France in the final and will look to make an impression at the City Ground.
However, his entire debut did not go as planned. He received a yellow card in the first half and was replaced by Nuno Tavares early in the second half.
Prutton believes the youngster will need some time to adjust to Premier League football. He’s been talking about why he feels he suffered since his debut.

“South American football, as passionate as it is, there is a comparison with the City Ground given the noise,” he said on the Garibaldi Red Podcast.
“When you see someone like Montiel come in and taste Premier League football, you kind of give them a free hit.”

The man who rose through the ranks at Forest did well for the club throughout his playing career. This week, he was a guest on the Garibaldi Red Podcast, where he discussed the club’s woes.
Montiel will deliver. You don’t win the World Cup and the Europa League in the previous nine months without being a valuable member of any team in which he plays.
For the time being, the defender is on loan at the City Ground. If Montiel performs well, Forest has the option to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the 2023/24 season.
It has to be mentioned that his debut was a bit of a flop. However, everything is not lost, and Prutton is correct to postpone judgment on the player for the time being.
