Alan Myers shares’serious’ 777 verdict as takeover development develops at Everton
According to Alan Myers, 777 Partners will bring “serious business sense” to Everton as it seeks to secure a takeover of the club.

The Sky Sports journalist tweeted on Wednesday (20 September) that it is something the Toffees have lacked for “many years” after it was revealed that the regulatory procedure to allow the US investment business to take over at Goodison Park is “well underway” [Sky Sports].

He noted that the Blues want a “serious business strategy” rather than “fan or sentiment ownership,” as the days of the “people’s club” in football are long gone.

“I think what 777 will bring to the club is a serious business sense, which I don’t think we’ve seen in many years,” Myers said.

“The club, in my opinion, requires a serious business strategy, not fan or sentiment ownership, as nice as that is.” In football, the days of the ‘people’s club’ are long gone.”

Required guidance

Everton are clearly in need of guidance after Farhad Moshiri struggled to keep the finances in check, and performances on the field haven’t been much better.

There are a lot of unknowns around 777 Partners, including as how much money the group has and how it plans to move the club forward.

But Myers appears to be very certain that it is the correct fit for the Toffees, with the journalist assuming that the company will bring more business sense than the existing owner.

To complete the takeover at Goodison Park, the firm will need to pass the requisite Premier League checks, although that process is already underway.

There had been speculation that a prospective deal may take months to complete, but the Blues urgently need more clarity to go forward and get things moving in the right manner.

In other Everton news, the club is in talks with the representatives of a PSG player about a January move.
