Martin Keown admits to Everton that he is ‘ruthless and unforgiving’ with a Luton game on the horizon.

Martin Keown gives his Premier League verdict on Everton, Luton Town, Wolves, and Burnley.
Martin Keown has challenged Luton Town to perform well against Everton, Wolves, and Burnley if they are to avoid relegation.

Keown provided his opinion on the newly-promoted side, who have struggled thus far, to the Daily Mail on Friday (22 September).

They are in 20th place after four losses in four games, with only two goals scored and 10 surrendered.

“If you don’t have a balanced game plan, the Premier League is so ruthless and unforgiving that it will eat you up and spit you out,” Keown warned.

“Luton’s season must begin on Saturday, at home against Wolves.”

“I’ve seen Rob Edwards’ team commit to defending wholeheartedly, but not nearly enough to attacking.” There needs to be more balance, and this is the start of a three-game stretch against bottom-five opponents — Wolves at home, Everton away, and Burnley at home — that will determine their season.”

Everton, too, requires victories.

The Toffees have had a terrible start to the season and will be anxious to get some wins as soon as possible.

There may be financial difficulties, but three straight seasons of relegation battles should not be tolerated by the club.

Money is tight for the club, no doubt, but they’ve brought in some decent players this summer, and Dyche needs to make the most of them.

The Luton game is a sure six-pointer, and it remains to be seen which Toffees team comes up.

Over the last two seasons, they’ve been highly inconsistent, losing to opponents they shouldn’t and winning against some of the top clubs.

There are no excuses for failing to get the maximum number of points from the Luton game, and they must do so.

In other Everton news, a condition for Sean Dyche’s dismissal has emerged amid controversy at Goodison Park.
