According to the Liverpool Echo, the price of the 777 Partners buyout of Everton could change depending on how the club performs at the commission hearing in October.
On Monday (25 September), the newspaper reported on its website that the total amount that the US investment firm will pay to purchase the Blues could depend on whether the club receives a “severe punishment” if found guilty of violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.
The price for which the 777 has agreed to acquire the club has not yet been disclosed, despite the club’s finances being in jeopardy as a result of losses over the last few years.
“The financial details of the deal have not been made public,” according to the publication.
“It is understood that the ultimate price paid by 777 to acquire Everton could change depending on a number of contingent factors, including relegation or any severe punishment handed down to the club should they be found guilty of the Premier League charges at next month’s independent commission hearing.”
There are so many unknowns at Everton right now in terms of economics and the prospective takeover by 777.
It will be a source of concern for all those affiliated with the club as they await the outcome of the independent hearing, with the consequences potentially severe if they are proven guilty.
It’s fair that the financial details of the proposed takeover have not yet been released because there are still various elements that could affect the deal.
If the worst were to happen and Premier League survival was at stake once more, the company would be unwilling to invest as much money in purchasing the club.
