Harrison is overjoyed to be back in action at Everton.

Jack Harrison believes that his return to fitness, full debut, and the Blues’ two consecutive away wins will help both him and Everton gain momentum.

The 26-year-old, a season-long loan signing from Leeds this summer, got his first start for the Toffees in tonight’s 2-1 Carabao Cup triumph against Aston Villa, recording 65 minutes to go with the 45 he played for the Under-21s last Friday.

Harrison hadn’t played since injured his hip while playing for his parent club last May, but he showed no symptoms of rust as he contributed to a team performance that was full of energy and persistence and which hustled a Villans side that had won their previous ten home matches out of their rhythm.

The winger was vital in leading the press and almost set up Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a fantastic assist, but the striker was denied first by goalkeeper Robin Olsen and then by the tightness of the angle as he struck the side-netting from the rebound.

“It was nice to get back out there,” Harrison said later to evertontv. “I thought the crowd was fantastic tonight.”

“I was saying last week on TV that they’re so loud that they’re the only people I can hear!”

“It was fantastic. That was extremely lovely to experience on the pitch, and I got a pretty nice reception walking off, so I’m glad for the fans tonight.

I’m hoping I can keep this momentum going. I’m excited to have the 60 minutes in the tank, but I’m even more excited to keep going and get acquainted with the system and the crew.

“I gave Dominic a good opportunity, and it was good to get back out there and familiarize myself with the system.”

“There will be more chances [in the coming weeks] to get some more results and really build some momentum.”

“I think we have some great, talented players, and when we’re organised like that, we make it really difficult for teams.”

Harrison’s good start under Sean Dyche will have put him in the manager’s thoughts for a home debut in front of the Goodison crowd this weekend when Everton visit newly-promoted Luton Town.
