“I don’t want to” – Jack Harrison admits to Everton transfer after Leeds United exit

Leeds United winger Jack Harrison made his debut for loan club Everton yesterday night, as they defeated Aston Villa in the third round of the EFL Cup.

With Daniel Farke’s men focusing on the forthcoming Championship match against fellow relegated side Southampton, there are a slew of loan players eager to find their feet at new teams.

Fans were dissatisfied with Jack Harrison’s departure to Everton, considering his readiness to leave the club for another relegation struggle, and any insight into his choice would be appreciated.

What did he say?
Harrison made his debut for Sean Dyche’s Everton in their EFL Cup clash against Aston Villa last night, and he was unlucky not to register an assist as he hooked up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a few occasions.

After the game, he spoke to the Liverpool Echo about his choice to join Everton, which came after a tumultuous summer between Everton and his opponents last night, the Villans.

He stated:

“There’s a long backstory to it.” I believe I should sit down and explain things properly; I don’t want to speak out of turn.

“It was a complicated situation, but I ended up at Everton, and I was delighted to be there.” I saw the club’s ideals, it’s a beautiful club, and I’m astonished they’ve been in this predicament for the previous couple of years.”

He also expressed astonishment that the Toffees consistently finish low in the table, given what he’s seen so far at his new club, as he continued:

“I believe that with the talent in the squad and the facilities with the staff and set-up they have as a club, they are very good.” I’m delighted to be here, and I hope that I can add to an already great team, and that we can build on the performances of the last two games to achieve success here at the club.”

It’ll be interesting to hear his thoughts on how the move came about, and I’m sure he’ll conveniently omit out how he forced his way out of Leeds via a loan clause.

He looked smart under Dyche last night, and he’s a nice fit for how the Toffees manager likes his wide players to operate.

But you have to question his motivation to play for a team that will be experiencing major financial difficulties very soon.
