Everton have finalized the free transfer of a former Liverpool defender ahead of the new season.

Megan Campbell, a former Liverpool defender, has joined Everton on a free transfer ahead of the new season.

Campbell spent the previous two seasons at Liverpool before departing in the summer. She won the Barclays Women’s Championship with The Reds in 2021/2022 before becoming a regular in the club’s top level last season. The player is recognized for her long throws and will provide a new dimension to Brian Srensen’s Everton squad this season.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Campbell remarked after joining Everton. Coming into the WSL with a new squad presents a new challenge for me, and I am looking forward to it. I’m hoping to thrive in the blue of Everton, and I’m convinced the squad will have a fantastic season.

“The squad did very well under Brian’s leadership last season, proving they can go places.” This season could be another step in that direction.

“I want to come in, have fun, and hopefully help the team in any way I can.” I am an experienced player. I’ve played in the WSL and against great internationals, so I want to help my teammates and make an impression wherever I can.”

Campbell might play against Brighton & Hove Albion at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.
