Sam Allardyce believes the 29-year-old Everton star player is the greatest in the Premier League at one thing.

Jordan Pickford has been named the greatest at one thing by Sam Allardyce.

This week, the 68-year-old was joined on his No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast by former goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, and the two had a lengthy debate about former and current goalkeepers in the English Premier League.

Allardyce and Kenny were asked to construct their ideal Premier League goalkeeper from four distinct categories, and Pickford was chosen as his former manager’s super player.

When asked who he would choose as the star to put between the posts to save a crucial penalty, Allardyce took his time but eventually settled on Pickford.

During his time with England, the 29-year-old has been well-known for his famed penalty saves, which helped the Three Lions defeat Colombia in a thrilling penalty shootout at the 2018 World Cup.

Pickford went on to score and save the game-winning penalty when England defeated Switzerland in the Nations League the following year, and then saved two Italy penalties in the Euro 2020 final, which England lost.

“I think Pickford, when you saw him in the Euro final and he saved two penalties,” Big Sam added on the program. Imagine saving two penalties and losing the game.”

Martinez, Pickford, Schmeichel, and Ederson
Allardyce also chose former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel for shot-stopping, Manchester City’s Ederson for ball-control, and Emiliano Martinez for cross-handling.

Pickford has been fantastic in penalty shootouts for England, and no matter who you support, the former Everton manager has nailed the nail on the head.
