Wolves player prepares for season debut after summer surgery – Returns to the field after four months
The winger has not played since May 21, when he suffered a knee injury that required surgery, and according to Record, he is expected to be on the field this week.
Guedes has previously trained with the Benfica squad, but as coach Roger Schmidt explains, there is a big difference between training and actually playing a match.
The Eagles seem to have picked him up at the best time, because on Friday Benfica will play a great Clasico against Porto at the Estádio da Luz.
This is great news for Wolves, who are certainly monitoring the situation closely.
Molineux previously loaned Guedes to Benfica in January this year. Because he was injured and needed surgery, the Eagles requested an extension this summer.
Wolves’ hands were tied, as the player was recovering from surgery, few clubs wanted to make an offer for him, so they loaned him to the Eagles for another year.
Now is the time for Guedes to prove himself at Benfica and perhaps convince them to opt for a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
