The lioness, Maheswari, died on Saturday night.

Born in 2006 and brought to Vizag Zoo from Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat in 2019, Maheshwari has contributed to the cause of conservation and brought education about Asiatic lions to millions, she said.

According to Salaria, lions survive for about 16 to 18 years in the wild, while Maheswari has entered his 19th year of life.
