Frank Lampard has praised Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who Tottenham Hotspur made a bid for last month.

Frank Lampard praises Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is a great talent, everyone knows that.

The 23-year-old made a great name for himself during his loan spell at Crystal Palace, but his performances for Chelsea last season were inconsistent. However, every manager he has managed has stuck by him and Frank Lampard has now revealed the reasons behind that decision. The Blues legend insists Gallagher is absolutely amazing behind the scenes every day.

Lampard said on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports:
“He is an incredible character and a great talent, he has a knack for scoring goals from midfield.

“He’s got real talent and real energy and that’s a huge quality for a midfielder, but one of the things I’ve noticed working with him is there’s a lot of things you don’t see, As a coach, you see things that everyone on the field out there sees.” It’s not and when you see people who want to train at a certain level and want to work hard and show you something every day.

“Sometimes when you pick a team, people ask you why you keep playing against Conor Gallagher, the answer is because of what I see in him every day, his desire to play for the club, his ability to influence to everyone according to his standards and when I met him I came back just to watch the team that was weak for many reasons but he practiced every day as if he wanted to show you something so I admired him a lot that. “I really hope that the game he wins and captains the club will be the opportunity for him to start his career at Chelsea because I know how much it means to him.”

Tottenham made a deadline-day offer to sign him
Were Tottenham Hotspur very active on transfer deadline day last month?
Spurs have signed Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest, but they are also keen to bring in a new midfielder and defender. Conor Gallagher was chosen by Ange Postecoglou as the new man in the middle of the park.

GiveMeSport claimed on transfer deadline day that Tottenham had made a £40 million offer to sign the Chelsea midfielder.

The move has not materialized at this stage, but it will be interesting to see if Postecoglou comes back with another offer in the January transfer window.
