A significant Villa figure has been injured, and a rehabilitation timeline has been established.

Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is said to have suffered an injury setback after a recurrence of the foot condition that kept him out all summer.

After suffering a broken metatarsal while on England U21s duty in the summer, the 22-year-old missed the start of this season, and his absence has been a loss for us given his importance when participating.

He highlighted his value to the team with a goal against Brighton last weekend, but as Unai Emery explained, he was ruled out of our midweek Europa Conference League match against Zrinjski due to an injury.

“With Jacob Ramsey, we are trying to check him again because he is not available for tomorrow,” Emery told the reporters on Wednesday, according to VillaTV. “He’s in pain after the game on Saturday, and he felt something against Chelsea.”

“He’s not available for tomorrow, we’re checking him and we’re going to wait for the analysis of the results.”

According to The Athletic, Ramsey’s foot ailment is still bothering him, but a timetable for his comeback is unknown at this point, so it remains to be seen whether it keeps him out for an extended amount of time or not.

Naturally, there is concern that Ramsey could be out again, which would be a setback for Villa given that we are still missing a number of key players due to injury.

For the time being, it is anticipated that there will be positive news before of our match against Wolves on Sunday, or that Ramsey will be available after the impending international break and will not require prolonged treatment.

Emery does have options, with Nicolo Zaniolo playing a significant part since his arrival this summer, and Leon Bailey returning from an injury in midweek.

However, with Alex Moreno, Moussa Diaby, and Boubacar Kamara all missing out on Thursday, and long-term absentees Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings also out, we’ll hopefully get a positive update from Emery in the coming days, and Ramsey’s situation isn’t as dire as first feared.
