“Look at Everton with Rafa Benitez,” says Carlton Palmer….

“Look at Everton with Rafa Benitez” – Carlton Palmer claims Sheffield Wednesday/Neil Warnock have fired Xisco Munoz after failing to win any of their first ten Championship games this season.

Sheffield Wednesday are in upheaval after a disastrous start to the season, and they are looking for a new manager so early in the season after sacking Xisco Munoz in midweek with zero wins to their name.

After a fairytale return to the play-offs last season, the Owls already face a major uphill battle to stay in the second tier, and new names are being sounded out. However, Carlton Palmer believes that, while old rival Neil Warnock is not widely liked in south Yorkshire, if hired, he could give the best possibilities of a remarkable escape.

What is the most recent information about Sheffield Wednesday’s managerial vacancy?
The Owls fired Munoz on Wednesday evening after losing again in midweek, this time 1-0 to West Brom at the Hawthorns, leaving them with only two points from their first ten league games.

They’re already seven points out of the playoffs and have the league’s worst offensive and goal difference, with only five goals scored in ten games.

Goals are a serious concern at Hillsborough, and in Munoz’s defense, it wasn’t exactly an exciting transfer window, with only six acquisitions made for genuine money and the rest coming in on free transfers.

Dennis Adeniran, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Jack Hunt have all been sent away, and even the loan additions of John Buckley and Jeff Hendrick have done little to convince the SW6 outfit that they can progress in the future.

As a result, the club is looking for their third manager in four months, after Darren Moore left in the summer despite leading the team to promotion from League One with 96 points in a thrilling play-off campaign.

Is Neil Warnock a smart choice for Sheffield Wednesday?

Given the variety of clubs he has managed in the past, selecting the veteran manager to guide them out of the wilderness would be a wise choice by Dajphon Chansiri.

Warnock has already managed Sheffield United, Rotherham United, Leeds United, and Huddersfield Town, completing a ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ for the 74-year-old – albeit he has never managed Wednesday.

With an overall record of 1619 games, he is the most experienced manager in professional football, although he only departed Huddersfield last month to make way for Darren Moore.

With a track record of getting the most out of his sides, Warnock is one of, if not the, most qualified candidates for the post at Wednesday, having done so with Huddersfield last season.

Even by his own standards, this would be a significant challenge. Only five goals in ten games is a dismal record, and with firepower missing at Hillsborough, he’d need to ensure his attackers were ready to shoot almost immediately upon his arrival if he was to make an effect.

What has Carlton Palmer said regarding the possibility of Neil Warnock joining Sheffield Wednesday?

Palmer believes that Warnock would be the ideal option to replace Munoz and instill hope in the SW6 crowd – but the question is whether that belief would be reciprocated.

“You never want to see a manager lose his job by all accounts,” he remarked. Xisco Munoz was a kind guy, but that doesn’t change the fact that 10 games, no victories, and two points from a possible 30 points is abysmal.

“Even this early in the season, the Owls are seven points from safety.” The question now is, who will take his place?

“I understand that some Sheffield Wednesday fans may be opposed to this idea, but Neil Warnock is available.” There is no compensation to be paid, but the question remains: might Neil work with Chansiri? Knowing Neil, I very much doubt it.

“They are also 15 games away from the transfer window, which means another 45 points are up for grabs.” I understand that free transfers are available, but there is a reason why a player does not have a club at this point in the season. If any manager could keep the Owls up, it would be Neil – but sometimes you have to listen to the fans. Look at Everton with Rafa Benitez; hiring managers from rival clubs does not always succeed.”
