Again Simon Jordan criticizes Leicester City and Leeds United over 777 Partners Everton takeover

The Whites and Foxes are among the clubs that have written to the Toffees’ possible new owners regarding their financial misdeeds.

Leeds United and Leicester City were both demoted from the Premier League last season, but the two are poised to challenge Everton based on the conclusions of an independent panel.

The Whites and Foxes have written a joint letter to 777 Partners, who are about to buy out Farhad Moshiri at Goodison Park, asking if they are aware that they intend to sue the club for £300 million.

That is, of course, if the commission decides that Everton did, in fact, violate the Premier League’s financial standards, with both Leeds and Leicester arguing that the Toffees should have had points removed either last season or the season before.

What is the case against Everton?

In March 2023, it was reported that the Toffees will be submitted to an independent commission for prior violations of Premier League profit and sustainability laws.

During the 2020-21 season, the Merseyside club lost £120.9 million due to COVID-19 restrictions and no fans allowed into Goodison Park.

Everton’s losses in the top flight of English football were allowed to exceed £105 million at the end of their three-year cycle; however, extenuating circumstances relating to COVID-19 meant that the club were not punished at the time.

However, an examination of all teams’ finances for the 2021-22 season has resulted in the club’s position being handed over to an independent commission, with the hearing scheduled to begin later in October.

Everton think they are not guilty of anything, but if they are shown to be guilty, the Premier League may punish the Toffees with point penalties.

What has Simon Jordan said about the letter from Leeds and Leicester to 777 Partners?

Speaking out on the decision of Leeds, Leicester, and Burnley to write to Everton’s prospective new owners about the possibility of suing the club for millions of pounds depending on the outcome of the hearing, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan slammed the clubs for their approach.

“That’s just ridiculous,” Jordan stated on TalkSPORT on October 6th, as reported by MOT Leeds News.

“First and foremost, I mean writing to someone to say ‘are you aware’ to what end? Because they may give them an offer to be able to hit it off right now, or they may prevent them from purchasing Everton as a result of it?

“The Premier League and the clubs that sit in it set the rules for adjudicating the timings of adjudication.”

“Their argument is that this would have been decided much more quickly.”

“The issue is that these Premier League football clubs want things done faster.”

If they want the regulations to be more expansive, guess what you do: you go to an AGM with the other 20 clubs and tell the Premier League’s central administration that you want the rules changed, and we will vote on it.
