Manchester United defender Harry Maguire claims he did not join West Ham during the summer transfer window due to a disagreement between the two teams.
WHAT OCCURED?
West Ham were said to be keen to sign the England international ahead of the current season and had held negotiations with United about a prospective move.
However, no deal was struck, and it was claimed that Maguire turned down their offer in order to remain at Old Trafford, although the centre-back denies this.

Under United coach Erik ten Hag, Maguire has struggled for playing time. This season, he has appeared in three Premier League games, starting only one of them.
Despite his troubles at United, Maguire has been called up for England’s forthcoming matches against Australia and Italy.
HOW THEY SAID IT
“Regular game time is really important to me, it has been throughout all my career,” he went on to say. “The opportunity to go to West Ham wasn’t really agreed upon between both clubs and myself, so it wasn’t just my chance to say ‘yes,’ which I did.”
“The actual opportunity didn’t exist because we didn’t pursue it far enough.” Although West Ham is a massive club, my primary concentration remains Manchester United. I want to battle for my spot, but game time is also very essential to me.”
