After a disappointing spell, Juventus is looking to buy a £15 million Everton midfielder in January.
Juventus, who are looking to reinforce their midfield, could consider signing the Everton midfielder.
According to Italian media, Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has surfaced as a target for Juventus.
The 30-year-old returned to England after a successful loan spell at Lille last season, where he appeared 27 times, scoring three goals and assisting twice.
Upon his comeback, he completed pre-season under Sean Dyche and was even named to the matchday squad for the first game of the season against Fulham, but a calf injury forced him to miss the game, and he has yet to make another squad since.
Signed from Barcelona in 2019, he had a rocky time at the club as he was a crucial starter when fit, but he sustained an ankle injury early in his Everton career as a result of a harsh tackle from Son Heung-min, which kept him out for a few months and severely harmed his career.
He may have found a way out in the summer, when there were reports of a possible relocation away, but nothing came of it. He may be able to go in January now that he appears to be surplus to requirements at Goodison Park.
According to Calciomercato.it, Juventus might be his rescue because they may be compelled to hunt for a new midfielder owing to off-field difficulties with Paul Pogba and Nicol Fagioli. Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg has also been mooted as a possible replacement after dropping to the bench with the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.
According to the source, the Everton man is worth roughly €15 million, but the Turin club is unwilling to spend that amount in January, especially given his contract expires in 2024. As a result, Juventus is considering a ‘low-cost’ deal to sign the player.
A prospective January trade is said to be contingent on both Everton and Gomes’ demands, although it is evident that a move may be the best answer for both parties.
