Exclusive; UEFA has ultimately chosen Everton and Goodison Park…..

Why isn’t Anfield used for Euro 2028? Everton, an inner-city rival, beat Liverpool’s renowned stadium.

The UK and Ireland are planning to host Euro 2028, but some historic stadiums have been ruled out.

UEFA announced the choice, and eleven venues in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland have been chosen.

That list does not contain Anfield, but Everton’s new stadium has been featured, which will be a tough pill for Reds fans to take.

And the exclusion has perplexed supporters.

Why is Anfield not being used for Euro 2028?
Anfield, located in the heart of Merseyside, is a fantastic stadium that seats little over 54,000 people.

It is now undergoing expansion, which will increase its capacity to 61,000.

This is larger than some of the other grounds considered.

However, because to the pitch dimensions, Anfield was never considered to host any games.

According to UEFA, all stadiums that host tournament games must be at least 105m by 68m in size.

Anfield is 101m long, which means the pitch is four metres too short.

This is a tremendous disappointment, as Liverpool will have to sit back and watch as Everton hosts Europe’s top international sides.
