The Panthers traded one tight end off injured reserve for another with Saturday’s trade. According to Panthers writer Darin Gantt, Carolina has chosen to send Ian Thomas to IR as he recovers from his calf injury. Reinforcements should arrive quickly, however, as Stephen Sullivan has been activated from IR in place of Thomas.

Injuries have been popping up more and more in Carolina this week. Running back Miles Sanders and safeties Vonn Bell and Xavier Woods may get attention for being inactive, but tight end Giovanni Ricci has also been ruled out of tomorrow’s game with a back injury, leaving only Hayden Hurst and Tommy Tremble top the depth chart.

Sullivan will make his 2023 season debut this weekend after being placed on IR to start the new year. In three years in the NFL, Sullivan has just two 46-yard catches, but he will provide important depth this Sunday.
