Tottenham showing ‘firm interest’ in signing Jonathan DaviD

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are said to have shown “firm interest” in signing LOSC Lille star Jonathan David in the January transfer window.

Spurs are reportedly looking to sign a new, established striker after selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer. They were even linked to multiple options, including David. However, they ultimately decided not to move out to anyone before the deadline.

They strengthened their attack in the summer transfer window by acquiring Alejo Veliz and Brennan Johnson. But even though Veliz is young and needs time to develop his career, Johnson is still comfortable competing on a large scale.

So, after deciding not to sign a prolific central striker recently, Tottenham plan to do so in January. As reported by TEAMtalk, Spurs have shown “firm interest” in signing David and have stepped up efforts to secure his services.

The report says Spurs are preparing to buy the striker in January, but if they fail to do so, they are willing to wait until next summer to sign him.

David goes to Tottenham
TEAMtalk further claims that the Canadian fits perfectly into Ange Postecoglou’s system and would therefore be an ideal signing for Tottenham to strengthen their frontline. The report also states that the 23-year-old is open to leaving Lille and joining the Premier League. Therefore, Tottenham may succeed in convincing the striker to move to the newly renovated White Hart Lane if they officially express interest.

David – valued by Transfermarkt at around £52m – has shown his goalscoring ability in League One recently and north Londoners will be hoping he can repeat the same feat in the Premier League if he joins the team. club next year.

However, it has been suggested that Spurs are also considering a move for Brentford star Ivan Toney to strengthen their attack.
So David could be an alternative if they fail to secure Toney’s signature.
So it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham ultimately choose to officially take an interest in signing David in the upcoming transfer window.
