Kalvin Phillips’ transfer to West Ham United is difficult.

Kalvin Phillips, a midfielder for Manchester City, is ready to discuss his future with the Premier League club.

Under Pep Guardiola, the 27-year-old has struggled for consistent game time, and according to Football Insider, he is ready to give up and move on in the coming window. Phillips is looking to get his career back on track and is open to moving elsewhere in January.

According to Football Insider, West United and Newcastle United are interested in the player, and Phillips is willing to consider joining these clubs in order to play more frequently.

West Ham may use another talented midfielder to complement Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse. The 27-year-old was highly rated in the Premier League during his time with Leeds United, and if he can restore his form and confidence, he may be a significant player for West Ham.

Similarly, Newcastle requires greater depth in the middle. Phillips would be a great addition alongside Sandro Tonali, and his presence would provide Bruno Guimaraes more freedom and control in the middle of the park.

The £45 million move to Manchester City clearly did not work out, and it is best for both parties to split ways.

Phillips has plenty of time to restore his career, and leaving Manchester City could provide him with the fresh start he requires right now.

Last season, the midfielder battled for playing time and has slid further down the pecking order since the additions of Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic.

A January transfer should be the player’s main objective, especially if he wants to play for England in the 2017 European Championships.
