Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has been forced to deal with a number of back injury problems since the start of this season.


Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia were both sidelined for at least the majority of the August campaign, while Jacob Ramsey and Alex Moreno were also ruled out due to their respective injury problems. Left-back Moreno is expected to return to training at Bodymoor Heath this week, while Ramsey will be out for some time after re-injuring his leg.
Diego Carlos, Bertrand Traoré, Boubacar Kamara, Moussa Diaby, Emi Martinez, Leon Bailey, Lender Dendoncker and Tim Iroegbunam also all had injury problems in the first two months of the season. Ahead of Villa’s clash with West Ham on Sunday (4.30pm kick-off), here’s the latest injury news…

Alex Moreno

Moreno has not played for Villa since the 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield last season after suffering a hamstring injury. The left-back returned to the Crystal Palace squad in September and was also with Villa against Legia Warsaw, but was not comfortable enough to play a few minutes.
He is expected to return to training at Bodymoor Heath against hosts Villa West Ham on Sunday. Villa wants to ensure that he does not suffer another setback in his recovery.

Jacob Ramsey
Ramsey recurred with a foot injury that sidelined him for 10 weeks this summer and early this season. He returned from injury last month in the defeat to Legia Warsaw and came off the bench in wins over Chelsea and Brighton, but will now spend several weeks on the bench.
