£40m star’s representative claims Tottenham are ‘closest’ club to signing him

Tottenham Hotspur, one of the clubs leading the race for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, is linked with the Premier League, according to one of the Mexican international’s representatives..
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Morris Pagniello – the FIFA intermediary speaking on behalf of one of Europe’s best-performing No..9s – has compiled a long list of clubs that have expressed interest in the move.. Santiago Gimenez over the past few years..

As well as Tottenham Hotspur – whose agent Gimenez confirmed their interest last August – the real big boys from Spain and Italy are also chasing the striker..
And for good reason..

Gimenez helped fire Feyenoord to Eredivisie glory last season.. With a remarkable 15 goals in his first 11 games of the new campaign, the former Cruz Azul ace has taken his game to a whole new level..
According to Pagniello, Gimenez’s price-tag has risen four-fold in the space of a year.. Feyenoord now valuing the much-coveted poacher at a cool £40 million..
Tottenham Hotspur lead Santiago Gimenez race

“We have already discussed (Gimenez) with Atletico Madrid,” Pagniello explains.. “We talked about him with Inter, Milan, Lazio and Napoli.. But for me, he could be the perfect choice for both Inter and Juventus.. These will be the best options for him..
“I’ve been telling him that for over a year.. Many different clubs to count on him.. His worth has increased from £10m to £40m in just under 12 months..
Pagniello may believe that Inter and Juventus are the “best options” for Gimenez, but those are not the clubs currently leading the hunt.. However, those titles belong to 14-time European champion and reigning Premier League champion Ange Postecoglou..

“Now the teams closest to him are Real Madrid and Tottenham,” Pagniello concluded..

Spurs ‘closest’ to Santiago Gimenez
Tottenham, excellent under Postecoglou so far and unbeaten in nine league matches, still feel like a top-class centre-forward cannot be a contender truly for the throne of Manchester City.. Therefore, Gimenez could be the “final piece” in the post-Harry Kane era..
