Sydney Roosters star recruit Dominic Young is in a serious but stable condition in hospital in England after an infection The sinus spread to the brain last week..
Young, who recently returned to the country to play for England in the Test series, spent more than a week in hospital after suffering headaches and facial swelling that forced him to close his eyes..
He is currently being treated and is expected to be discharged within a week..


The 22-year-old England international missed the opening match of England’s three-match series against Tonga and is not expected to play any further part in the series..

Roosters confident he will be fit to play round one next season, but infection and the expected recovery time could impact his pre-season training schedule with his new club..
Young’s manager, Michael Cincotta, confirmed the severity of Young’s situation and said his condition had worsened after the flight from Australia to England.. Cincotta is confident that his client has now recovered..

“Dom is doing really well considering the situation,” Cincotta told the Sydney Morning Herald on Monday afternoon.. “He’s in recovery now and the medical experts are confident he will be OK.. He’ll be ready to go for the start of next season..”
The Roosters sent physiotherapist Steph Brennan, who is in England as part of the Tongan medical staff, to check up on their prized recruit in hospital.. The club was awaiting details from Young’s doctors when contacted by the SMH on Monday..
Young, who was one of Newcastle’s best players on their inspired run into the finals this year, signed a four-year deal in February to join the Roosters in 2024..
England coach Shaun Wane, speaking ahead of weekend’s 22-18 win over Tonga, downplayed the severity of Young’s condition ahead of his team’s series opener at St Helens.. “He is in hospital with illness [and] will be assessed next week,” coach Shaun Wane told NRL.com when asked about Young and whether he would be available for the return match at John’s Stadium Smiths next Saturday or not..


Team doctor Chris Brookes said Young had an infection..
Young’s younger brother Alex has also been signed by the Roosters and recently landed in Australia to begin his spell at the club..
