Michigan football: Ohio State tipped off TCU about sign-stealing
Michigan football is clearly in the head of Ohio State, which called TCU before the playoff to alert them to potential sign-stealing by the Wolverines.
There’s another revelation out about the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal and it’s one that I find quite humorous.
According to another report from Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, TCU was tipped off about Michigan potentially stealing signs before the 2022 College Football Playoff by Ohio State.
Here’s part of what Dellinger wrote in his latest report:
“Not long after the CFP unveiled the 2022 semifinal matchups — Georgia vs. Ohio State and TCU vs. Michigan — the Horned Frogs staff began receiving phone calls from coaches across the country about what was a well-known fact in the Big Ten coaching community: that Michigan had an elaborate sign-stealing system. Many of those on the TCU staff were unaware before the calls. Coaches from several Big Ten schools, including Ohio State, informed TCU coaches of the scheme.”
What’s funny is that again, sign-stealing isn’t illegal. But what’s really funny is that Ohio State coaches were calling TCU, a team they could have faced for the national championship, in order to help them out against Michigan.
Yes, in-person scouting is illegal, and it seems like Connor Stalions did break that rule, as well as having a network of others who helped. But there still isn’t any evidence that the Michigan football coaching staff, namely, Jim Harbaugh, knew anything about the operation.
And if you read Stalions’ 600-page manifesto about someday becoming Michigan football head coach, it makes you believe he could have done this on his own to try and impress others on the coaching staff.
What’s funny to me is that Ohio State knew the same thing TCU knew and still got beat by 22 points on its home field. You can also see how Jim Harbaugh is living rent-free in Ryan Day’s head which will be even more apparent if Day and the Buckeyes were the ones who funded this “outside firm” that handed over evidence to the NCAA.
Lastly, if all these coaching staffs knew about the sign-stealing, why the hell didn’t they change their signs? That’s their fault for being stupid and if they didn’t change much over the years, it’s doubtful Michigan football even needed in-person information to do it.
