Everton have begun discussions to restructure the midfielder’s contract.

Tottenham and Everton are in talks to renegotiate a trade deal to allow Dele Alli to return to the Goodison Park first-team squad.

WHAT OCCURED? Dele’s move to Everton in 2022 came with no upfront cost but a variety of conditional clauses, including a payment of £10 million ($12.4 million) triggered if the 27-year-old plays 20 games for the club. While he is still far from full fitness, ESPN reports that the two clubs are discussing modifying their contract in order to facilitate the player’s return to first-team action.

After entering recovery, the former England midfielder made a series of shocking discoveries about his past, including sexual abuse and drug selling at the age of eight.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR EVERTON? While the entire football world awaits Dele’s return, his club will be hoping for another important Premier League win against Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
