Dr. Marc Philippon to perform hip surgery on San Francisco Giants player

Marc Philippon, MD, will perform hip surgery on Alex Cobb, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, in Vail, Colo., on Oct. 31.

The surgery is to fix Mr. Cobb’s labrum and ongoing impingement issues on his left hip, according to an Oct. 31 report from mlb.com.

Mr. Cobb received multiple treatment therapies but opted for surgery after getting a second opinion from Dr. Philippon.

Dr. Philippon is an orthopedic hip surgeon and a managing partner at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo. He has provided successful treatment to more than 1,000 professional and Olympic athletes throughout his career.
