Their love story inspired the country as the former Newcastle star began to recover from the tragic football incident in 2014 that left him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Photos of the couple and their children sharing a happy life together warmed the hearts of fans before Power confirmed last year the couple went their separate ways in January, 2022.

The couple were together for 12 years before their separation — and they showed in Instagram posts last year they were still close even after the split.

Now McKinnon has revealed the pair are continuing to live life together, raising their three daughters — twin girls, Audrey Jill and Violet John, and their older daughter, Harriet Anne.

McKinnon has told News Corp the family will be together for the rest of their lives.

“We are still really close,” McKinnon said when asked about Teigan.

“Being a parent is such an important job and having a strong relationship with their mum is just as important.

“We are still good friends, we both realise we are role models for the kids and we need to show them that being supportive of each other is the only way to be.

“We will always be close, we have three daughters together for the rest of our lives.”

It was widely reported last year the primary cause of the separation were the stresses that come with raising a young family.

It’s why he says his most important job is still to come — raising his young family.

“Parenting while able-bodied is difficult, we all need to adapt,” McKinnon said.

“But the girls are great. Even at their age, they are so caring, very aware and very accepting.

“Even if I just look like I need a drink or if I drop my phone, they are straight onto it. We have never taught them that, it has just come naturally.”
