Washington Commanders Coach Ron Rivera has been fired……

Under Fire Coach Ron Rivera Unsure Of Future, Vows To Push On As Commander Coach

Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera, facing a challenging 4-6 season and a new owner in Josh Harris, addressed questions about his job security with a composed demeanor. Rivera expressed confidence in his work since joining the organization during a tumultuous period, emphasizing his focus on the growth and development of the quarterback and offensive unit.

While acknowledging the disappointment in the defensive performance, Rivera remained steadfast in his commitment to the team’s progress.

“I understand the situation and circumstances, but I’m not going to waver on anything. I’ll stick to what I talked about in the spring and that was the growth and development of the quarterback and the offensive unit. I think with what we’re doing and how we’re doing things. it’s kind of the progression of how it would be. My big disappointment has been we haven’t played as well on defense that we’ve needed to. Does that make my job security shaky? It could. I mean, I have no idea what Mr. Harris is going to do.”

Drawing from past experiences, particularly his firing by the Carolina Panthers’ new owner in 2019, Rivera revealed that he can compartmentalize thoughts about his future, given his resilience in navigating similar situations.

Rivera’s tenure with Washington has been marked by significant challenges, including the franchise name change, investigations into the organization’s culture, and legal issues involving former staff members. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Rivera remains focused on steering the team through its current struggles and fostering player development.
