Auburn Tigers key player announced his retirement…..

Auburn legend could officially announce retirement soon

The chances of Auburn football legend Cam Newton making an NFL comeback were given a “remote at best” assessment from Cat Crave’s Dean Jones.

“It’s been almost two years since Cam Newton saw a regular-season snap,” Jones prefaced before saying, “He’s been out of the league since a bombshell return to the Carolina Panthers in 2021, although the legendary quarterback remains keen on a return. The chances of this are remote at best. Teams around the NFL seem to have moved on…”

Newton acknowledged that the NFL doesn’t have much of an interest in him, since if they did, his representatives would at least have their calls to franchises answered.

“It doesn’t matter how many times you call, if they don’t want you, they’re not picking up,” Newton said on the November 21 edition of The Dan Patrick Show. “I’ve known the NFL to do and be very intentional in what they do. It’s no manipulation, it’s no swaying. It doesn’t matter if I call them. If they don’t want me, it’s still gonna be . . . okay.”

Jones believes that Newton’s acknowledgment that he isn’t wanted could actually lead to “Superman” officially hanging up his cape and calling it a pro football career; presumably focusing full-time on his media ventures and Atlanta businesses.

“For Newton to acknowledge this publicly, it could mean an official retirement won’t be too far behind,” Jones prefaced before saying, “This would likely come by signing a one-day contract with the Panthers, where he would receive the deserved adulation for everything he poured into the organization.”

If his career is over, Newton will be remembered as a winner at every level, though the Super Bowl will have eluded him.

The BCS National Championship didn’t, though, and for that, AU will forever be grateful to Newton.
