Sooners lose three players to suspension, reports of failed drug tests
NORMAN, Okla (KOKH) — With Oklahoma’s Peach Bowl date with LSU just over a week away it appears the Sooners could be without some key members of their team. Soonerscoop.com was the first to report that running back Rhamondre Stevenson, defensive end Ronnie Perkins and receiver Trejan Bridges have been suspended.
Head coach Lincoln Riley was asked about the report and he responded by saying he was aware of the report but he couldn’t comment on it.
When he was asked about the status of running back Kennedy Brooks he said he would play. When asked about Stevenson he responded by saying again that Kennedy Brooks would play.
As for the reasons for the suspensions, it’s believed to be marijuana-related.
All three players are key contributors or in the case of Bridges shown to be talented performers.
Perkins has been one of the Sooner’s best pass rushers while Stevenson is the backup to Brooks at running back. An appeal of the suspensions is the next step.
