Max Abmas Leads Texas Longhorns Past Wyoming Cowboys for Fifth Win of Season

Max Abmas scored a season-high 23 points and the Texas Longhorns cruised by the Wyoming Cowboys to move to 5-1.

AUSTIN, Texas — Coming off their first loss of the season, the Texas Longhorns returned to the Moody Center on Sunday looking to start fresh against the Wyoming Cowboys.

Coach Rodney Terry’s team did just that – and in convincing fashion – as No. 15 Texas (5-1) used a season-high 23 points from guard Max Abmas to handle Wyoming in an 86-63 win.

Texas got double-digit scoring efforts from four of its five starters. After sitting out in the loss to UConn last week, Kadin Shedrick had 17 points, two blocks and two steals in another all-around game. Tyrese Hunter (12 points) and Dillon Mitchell (12 points, nine rebounds) picked up where they left off against UConn after being a major reason the Longhorns remained competitive in that matchup with the defending national champs. Ithiel Horton added 11 points off the bench.

“We have really good players,” Abmas said. “When they get going, that just opens up shots for me.”

However, it was Abmas who paced the offense against Wyoming and allowed the Longhorns to cruise to their fourth blowout win of the season.
