AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns are gearing up for the Big 12 Championship against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Arlington on Saturday, but with the offseason right around the corner, transfer portal news is going to intervene for the time being.
Per The Portal Report, Florida State Seminoles graduate transfer receiver Winston Wright Jr. has said that he’s already been contacted the Longhorns. Texas is on a lengthy list of schools that have reportedly contacted him, joining Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Baylor, Arkansas, Michigan State, Rutgers, UCF, Utah and more.
In his college career, the Savannah, Georgia native has tallied 133 catches for 1,374 yards and seven touchdowns along with 55 kickoff returns for 1,310 yards and two more scores.
Wright Jr. began his career with the West Virginia Mountaineers and has already felt what it’s like to play at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. In two games against Texas, Wright Jr. went 1-1 while posting a combined 10 catches for 123 yards and one touchdown in those two contests.
He played three seasons at West Virginia before transferring to Florida State in 2022. However, injuries sustained from a car accident in the offseason kept him out for the entire year.
