Carlos Corberan will be fuming over Okay Yokuslu incident in West Brom v Leicester City
Carlos Corberan will have to make do without Okay Yokuslu in next weekend’s clash with Sunderland after the West Brom midfielder was cautioned in the 2-1 loss to Leicester City.
Yokuslu entered the referee’s book after catching opposite number Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the 74th minute of Saturday’s (2 November) Championship clash.
That was the Turkey international’s fifth booking in the league this term, meaning an automatic one game ban that will be served when Albion head to the Stadium of Light on 9 December.

It is a big blow for Corberan as Yokuslu has started 17 of West Brom’s 19 Championship games this season, while featuring from the substitutes’ bench in the other two matches.
While Corberan may be frustrated with the 29-year-old’s disciplinary record this term – he has already matched his yellow card tally from the whole of last season – this latest caution was harsh to say the least.
Indeed, even Andy Hinchcliffe questioned referee Tim Robinson’s decision during Sky Sports Main Event‘s live coverage of the match [2 December, 14:04].
“Yokuslu maybe clips the heels of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. It’s harsh to book him for that,” former Manchester City and Everton defender Hinchcliffe said.
The referee made a number of strange calls, with that one labelled a “shocker” by Lewis Cox in the Express & Star‘s live coverage of the match [2 December, 14:04].
Given Matt Philips also hobbled off against Leicester, Corberan has a week to find some solutions to plug the gaps in midfield ahead of the game with Sunderland.
Being without Yokuslu is a blow, but it does at least mean the midfielder can rest up ahead of a gruelling run of fixtures through the rest of December.
In other West Brom news, Action For Albion has rubbished an “impossible” claim made regarding the takeover situation at the club.
