A Tennessee redshirt freshman offensive lineman officially added his name to the NCAA transfer portal Monday morning

A Tennessee offensive lineman has officially added his name to the NCAA transfer portal after announcing his plans to leave the Vols on Friday. Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Mo Clipper Jr. entered the portal Monday morning, sources told GoVols247, coming off his second season at Tennessee after revealing three days earlier via social media that he was planning to enter the portal.

Clipper became one of the first Vols to enter the portal, which officially opened for all players Monday morning Veteran cornerback Warren Burrell entered on Thursday and didn’t have to wait for the transfer-portal window to officially open because he is a graduate transfer.

Clipper redshirted during his first season at Tennessee in 2022 and appeared in five games this season. He worked at both guard spots during his time with the Vols. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

“Thank you all for the love and support during my time here. These past two years have been an eye opening experience for me and I would not trade it for anything in the world. Thank you to the coaching staff, trainers, professors and my teammates who have been very supportive in my development as a student athlete and been grinding with me since Day 1. I created lifelong friendships and memories which I will always cherish.

“After much though and prayers, I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility left.”

Clipper played on the offensive line late in Tennessee’s wins against Ball State and UT Martin during his freshman season in 2022, maintaining his redshirt status in the process.

Despite the Vols dealing with a rash of injuries on their offensive line this season, Clipper’s lone appearances came in the season opener against Virginia before he appeared in each of the final four games of the season. His only two appearances on offense, a total of 19 snaps, came against Virginia at left guard and against Connecticut at right guard. He was also part of the protection unit for field goals and extra points during the final four games of the season.

Clipper was part of a Milton team that went undefeated during the regular season and reached the quarterfinals of the playoffs during his junior season in 2020, and he was a team captain as a senior and earned all-state honors in helping his team reach the Class 7A state championship game after winning a fourth straight region title. He also played basketball at Milton. Clipper was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked the No. 41 interior offensive lineman and No. 87 prospect in Georgia for the 2022 class.
