Tennessee Volunteers’ best player has entered the transfer portal.

Tyler Baron enters the transfer portal

Baron will look for a new home for his final year of college football.

Tennessee defensive lineman Tyler Baron has opted to hit the transfer portal this afternoon. The senior pass rusher is coming off his best season and will have one final year of eligibility remaining.

Baron racked up 28 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, and six sacks during the 2023 season. He was reportedly weighing a decision to go to the NFL or enter the transfer portal — today it seems like he’s opted to play his final year of football for another program. While it may seem like an odd decision on the surface, the NIL opportunities are likely the reason why.

The former four-star prospect also entered the transfer portal following the 2021 season, but quickly withdrew his name just days later.Home on Rocky Top: Tyler Baron - YouTube

Most seemed to assume that Baron was gone following this season, but most had him projected to go to the league. Baron still has his one COVID-season of eligibility remaining. Baron did go through Senior Day festivities ahead of his final game against Vanderbilt. He’ll now go through the process of finding a new home for next year.

Baron joins Addison Nichols, Jack Luttrell, Brandon Turnage, Mo Clipper and Warren Burrell in the portal.
