Theo Johnson enters the NFL Draft and will compete in the Peach Bowl.
Tight end at Penn State On Friday, Theo Johnson announced that he will forego his eligibility and enter the NFL draft. This season, Johnson was a key member of the Penn State offense, catching 32 passes for 325 yards and six touchdowns.
Johnson is the second player to declare for the NFL draft since the end of the regular season. Unlike Chop Robinson, Johnson has decided to play in the Peach Bowl, giving the Nittany Lions another offensive weapon as they look to win 11 games in five of James Franklin’s ten seasons as head coach.
Penn State’s tight end group has had a lot of depth over the years. It was on full display the previous two seasons, when Johnson shared duties with Tyler Warren and current Jaguar Brenton Strange.
If he is drafted in April, as expected, Johnson will become the fourth tight end drafted by Franklin, joining Mike Gesicki, Pat Freiermuth, and the aforementioned Brenton Strange.
