Football: Five-star long snapper Jax Thompson commits to TCU
The Horned Frogs added one of the top specialists in the 2024 class.
TCU football added one of the top high school specialists in the nation on Tuesday, securing a commitment from five-star long snapper Jax Thompson. An Adidas All-American from Flower Mound, Texas, Thompson ranks as the No. 11 long snapper in the country according to Rubio and the No. 18 long snapper in the country according to Kohl’s. Below is the summary about Thompson from the Kohl’s Professional Camps online rankings.
“Thompson has shown time and time again that he has the talent to play for any program in the country. He snapped with an impressive command of his snapping motion at Kohl’s Fall Ranking Camp. Thompson had tight ball rotation on each snap and finished the charting portion with an average snap time of .66 seconds. Thompson is one of the few prospects in this class who rips the cover off the ball and has the ability to make plays downfield.”
Thompson is the second notable specialist committing to the Horned Frogs in the 2024 class, joining five-star kicker and three-star overall prospect Kyle Lemmermann. Thompson, who held offers from SMU and North Texas, will join a TCU football team that currently has only one long snapper, redshirt freshman Logan Frederic, listed on the 2023 roster. Former tight end Brent Matiscik served as TCU’s long snapper in 2022 and 2023.
