A former SEC starting quarterback from the Portal is selected by TCU for 2024, breaking news.

Ken Seals, a former quarterback for Vanderbilt, declared he would be playing for the TCU Horned Frogs in 2019. After spending some time on the portal, the starter who had previously been a backup decided to make his move again and shared it on Twitter.

Seals, who had been the portal for well over a month, made the announcement on January 4th on X. Seals had early access to the gateway and took his time touring several schools before determining where he wanted to live next. After he uploaded a picture of himself in Ohio with coaches, several people thought he would ultimately end up at Ohio.
For those who couldn’t find success, P5 quarterbacks who eventually became starters at G5 institutions, Ohio also made a lot of sense. But in the end, Seals believed that playing for TCU would be in his best interests. Growing up, Seals was a huge fan of TCU and dreamed of joining the team after high school, but no offer was made. Finally, after a good few years at Vanderbilt, his ambition is becoming a reality.
Ken Seals participated in three of his four years as a player for Vanderbilt. He worked part-time at the job all three years. He ranks seventh in Vanderbilt history as a passer with a career passing average of 4,292 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions. He passed for 1,183 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just four interceptions in his most recent game in 2023.

At Vanderbilt, Seals found it difficult to hold a steady starting spot. Even though he participated in ten of the Commodores’ twelve games, the majority of his playing time was spent in contests when AJ Swann was either sidelined or started because of an injury to Swann.

It’s interesting to note that Swann and third-stringer Walter Taylor also used the transfer portal, perhaps providing the Seals with a chance to retain the starting lineup.
