Coventry City hopes there won’t be any regrets as they watch Blackburn Rovers: View
Even though they are typically just two teams working together, there may occasionally be a third party involved when players on loan from one team are called up by their parent club and sent to another.
Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari is one player who has found himself finishing such a deal in the first few days of this month’s market.
Ayari swaps Coventry for Blackburn
Ayari temporarily left Brighton during the summer transfer window to take a loan position with Championship team Coventry City.
The midfielder then made 13 appearances for Mark Robins’ team across all competitions in the first half of the season.
The 20-year-old scored once during that period, around the end of September, in a 1-1 tie with Huddersfield Town.
Ayari’s time at the CBS Arena came to an end on Friday, though, as Brighton called up the player from his loan stay with Coventry.
The Swede was then promptly loaned out to Blackburn Rovers, another Championship team, where he would team up with another Brighton loanee at Ewood Park, Andy Moran.
Given the situation, it would seem reasonable to recall Ayari from Coventry and place him on loan somewhere else. The Sky Blues might, however, be a little nervous because they might live to regret this situation.
Ayari could flourish for Blackburn at Coventry’s expense
Ayari made 13 appearances for Coventry, just six of which were as a starter. After December 2nd, he did not play for the Sky Blues at all.
Thus, the midfielder was not precisely getting the experience and opportunity to grow that he required for his career during his stint at Coventry.
In light of this, it seems reasonable to end his loan period and give him the option to pursue those prospects elsewhere. In this case, that somewhere is Blackburn, where he made his debut on Saturday as a late substitute in their FA Cup third-round victory over Cambridge.
