- Ok Prior to the spring semester, Indiana football formally announces the arrival of five new transfer players.
The five new transfers for Indiana football are now officially Hoosiers and will be a part of the team starting this Monday, when the spring semester gets underway.
Old Dominion defensive back
- Asbury II and Terry Jones Jr., North Carolina running back Elijah Green, Troy linebacker Jayden McDonald, and James Madison wide receiver Eljiah Sarratt are the five recently announced transfers.
With two more years of eligibility left, Sarratt is ranked by 247Sports as a four-star receiver. With 82 receptions for 1,191 yards and eight touchdowns in the previous season, the 6-foot-2, 207-pound player was among the best in the country.
For the Hoosiers, Asbury and Jones should offer expertise and output right away while maintaining safety. Each of the Old Dominion transfers was selected as an Honorable Mention for the 2023 Sun Belt. Asbury racked up 93 total tackles, one interception, four pass breakups, and six tackles for loss. Jones finished with 107 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 quarterback hurries, 1 forced fumble, and 1 recovered fumble. There is still one year for both players to be eligible.
With Green, Indiana now has eight scholarship running backs in its deep running back group. The native of Georgia made 27 appearances in three Tar Heel seasons. Green has gained 558 yards through rushing on 131 carries for eight touchdowns in his career. In addition, Green has demonstrated his ability as a pass-catcher, amassing 17 grabs for 107 yards and one touchdown. There are still two years left on his eligibility.
McDonald is entering his sixth and final year of college football. McDonald had a great year in 2023 with a career-high 75 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble following two injury-plagued seasons in 2021 and 2022. The 6-foot-231-pound player, who is IU’s third offseason transfer linebacker, provides the linebacker room with immediate experience. McDonald is still eligible for one more year.
