BREAKING NEWS: A player for the Pittsburgh Steelers has passed away to…

According to reports, Arthur Smith will become the new offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Arthur Smith will assume the role of offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Smith, 41, led the Atlanta Falcons as their head coach for the previous three seasons. He was fired on January 8th, ending his tenure after three consecutive 7–10 seasons that finished without a postseason trip.

Before moving to Atlanta, Smith spent ten years as an assistant coach for the Tennessee Titans, where he eventually assumed the position of offensive coordinator in his final two seasons.

Following Smith’s takeover of the offense in 2019, the Titans had their highest scoring season in sixteen years thanks to the play of Ryan Tannehill, who was named starter after six games, and rushing champion Derrick Henry.

Smith will replace Matt Canada, who was fired following Week 11—the first coaching change made by the Steelers during a season since 1941. An offense that ranked 25th in total yards per game (304.3) and 28th in points per game (17.9) will be led by Smith.

In 2024, Kenny Pickett will be entering his fourth NFL season, making it one of Smith’s biggest tasks to date to get him back in shape. After sustaining an ankle injury on December 3, Pickett lost his starting position to Mason Rudolph for the remainder of the season and the Steelers’ lone playoff game.

Regarding Pickett, Steelers president Art Rooney II stated on Monday, “Obviously, he does need to take another step.” “Ensuring that the next offensive coordinator assists Kenny in taking the next step is a crucial aspect.”
