Rohan Smith delivers early Hull KR pre-season fixture team news announcement
The two clubs will meet in February, eleven days before Rovers’ Super League campaign begins.
Hull KR will provide Leeds Rhinos’ new-look spine with their first examination when the two clubs clash in the arranged pre-season friendly set for next year. The two Super League clubs will face one another on Sunday, February 4th in what is the final game for both clubs ahead of the Super League season.
For Rovers, it will act as an opportunity for Willie Peters to cast his eye over some of his new combinations, with the Robins set to field a strong team against Rohan Smith’s side. But the same applies for the Rhinos, with Rohan Smith confirming that is the first game in which he intends to field his new playmakers together.
As part of a significant recruitment drive, the Rhinos have a new fullback, hooker and halfback pairing. Australian dual-code talent, Lachie Miller, has signed from Newcastle Knights. Canberra Raiders halfback Matt Frawley has joined and will partner former Man of Steel Brodie Croft, who has arrived from Salford Red Devils alongside Andy Ackers.
Together they will be tasked with helping the Rhinos rise the table after missing out on the play-offs last season and the game at Headingley is set to be the first time the Leeds supporters will get to see their new talents play together.
The Rhinos’ first game is on Boxing Day but asked when his spine woudl play together he said: “The Hull KR pre-season game, they’ll play together then.”
Rovers aren’t without changes to their spine either. Peta Hiku has been signed to be the club’s new halfback and Catalans Dragons halfback Tyrone May has also joined the club.
