SF Giants manager says “we actually kind of have” done a lot this offseason
SF Giants manager Bob Melvin said in a radio appearance that the team has made good under the radar moves this offseason.
The SF Giants seem mostly set this offseason. While many fans have considered this offseason a failure due to the team’s inability to sign a star player, manager Bob Melvin believes that the team actually has done a lot this offseason.

In a radio appearance on KNBR’s Papa and Lund show, he refuted the narrative that the Giants have not done a lot this offseason. Melvin had this to say:
Melvin went on to say that some of the moves the Giants have made may be a bit under-the-radar, but that he feels good about where the team is at.
It would be unfair to say that the team has done nothing this offseason. Compared to the offseason the Dodgers have had where they added star talent left and right it may seem insignificant by comparison, but the Giants have made moves.
Singing Jung Hoo Lee was a big move that the team hopes will make them faster, more athletic, and better defensively up the middle while also providing an exciting young player who should be in the lineup most days.
The trade for Robbie Ray got rid of two guys who struggled last year in Mitch Haniger and Anthony DeSclafani while bringing in a former Cy Young winner in Ray even though he will not pitch for the team until after the All-Star break.
It remains to be seen how Jordan Hicks will fare as a starter, but the fact he has such electric stuff on the mound makes him an intriguing signing. And the addition of catcher Tom Murphy will give the Giants a little extra depth behind Patrick Bailey.
Melvin also may have given hope to Giants fans who desperately want the team to add more talent before the season starts by saying that the team is not done making moves.
