Sad News: The coach feels let down by the players

Breaking: The coach has vanished. Wigan Athletic’s lack of success against Cheltenham left Shaun Maloney ‘disappointed,’ as he acknowledged that his team ‘needed more’ in the first half.Aligned with the athletes

Within nine minutes at the DW, Latics trailed as Maty Taylor drilled a goal into Sam Tickle’s bottom corner.
Latics barely had the upper hand against their opponents despite controlling the remainder of the first half, and during halftime, several members of the home crowd jeered the team.

Latics improved significantly in the second half, helped by a triple half-time replacement that saw Josh Magennis, Stephen Humphrys, and Callum McManaman enter the game.
Elliot Bonds, a Town defender, deflected a cross-shot from Luke Chambers to tie the score seven minutes into the second half.
They may have even forced a late winner when Josh Magennis’s excellent effort allowed the normally outstanding Jonny Smith to shoot straight at the Cheltenham goalie.
Maloney said, “I was probably a little bit disappointed we didn’t win it really.”

I’m a little surprised we didn’t win considering we had so much possession and spent the whole second half confined to their half.”But we have to respect the opposition, and you know it’s going to be a very tough night ahead when you give in to a set-play that early on.

“I didn’t like the first half very much…we had a lot of the ball but we didn’t have any real threat.”To be fair to the players, the second half felt very different. I could sense the tension as they continued to attempt to undermine a very resilient Cheltenham team.

“I liked the second half, but in the first half I need a lot more.”After the three adjustments at halftime, all I needed was a new pitch profile.
“I knew if we did certain things, we’d have a lot of the ball, but we just needed more threat.”Players who are adept in one-on-one situations are sometimes necessary when a team is playing deep. “I knew if we had that, we’d create crossing opportunities, and the three boys who came on, I was really happy with,” the coach said.
