Record Breaker: Thiago Silva on his sacrifices and unique love for Chelsea

Thiago Silva, who is 39 years and 64 days old, made a noteworthy contribution to Chelsea’s history.
When the defender made an appearance at St. James’ Park, he became the oldest outfield player to ever play for the team. The fact that he is still playing at such a high level is evidence of his commitment to both his rehabilitation and his craft.

However, Thiago hasn’t done it by himself. Even if few football players have dealt with a life-threatening disease, like Thiago did almost 20 years ago, there are still many challenges in the game.
As the Brazilian tells us over at Cobham, having the support of your closest and dearest is essential if you want to be a long-time player.

My wife in particular has always been there for me, and my family has supported me throughout my entire career,” Thiago explains.
She promised to support my decisions no matter what when we got married, and she still does—if not more so now. Because healing is so vital, there are some things we can’t do together and some compromises we must make. I would play till I was fifty if she had her way! I have to constantly tell her during our discussions how crucial my rehabilitation is. I want to spend more time indoors, while she enjoys getting out a lot more.

Thiago finds himself imparting guidance of this kind to his younger teammates. Even when considering Mauricio Pochettino’s team’s youthful composition, Thiago is unquestionably the elder gentleman.
Reece James recently informed us that Thiago is the player he goes to for extra help, demonstrating how seriously he takes his role and how well it is working.

Thiago affirms, “I have a really good relationship with Reece James.” “He’s an excellent leader with a bright future ahead of him due to his exceptional listening skills.” I currently work as a bit of a sounding board. It’s challenging because the players are occasionally much older than I am. Our goal is to expedite the comprehending process, and I believe that most of the guys here are capable of doing so.
His demeanor and manner of play have made him a cult hero everywhere he has gone. But Thiago believes there’s one characteristic that makes Chelsea unique from the others. It’s the fact that our Academy accepts his two boys, Iago and Isago.

I must admit that every club I’ve been to has shown me a great deal of love from both the clubs and the supporters, but because my kids are on the team here, it feels a little bit different. Thiago clarifies.
It would be a dream come true for me to watch them compete professionally at Chelsea. In the end, I enjoy watching them, and I make every effort to assist them. My wife is always here and even wants to attend every away game because she loves watching my kids play here. She may be aware that my career is nearing its end and wants to make the most of her remaining years in it.
