As a Newcastle player, Alexander Isak discusses what he considers to be the “best” assist he has ever received.

Alexander Isak has scored his fair share of goals as a Newcastle United player despite only being at the club less than two years and suffering a number of injuries.

Isak has proved to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League at the minute when fit and some of his goals have been pretty spectacular.

In an interview with NUFCTV, Isak shared how he thought Joe Willock’s assist for his goal against Tottenham in the 6-1 victory at St James’ Park stood out as the best he’s received at Newcastle.

Isak names his favourite assist

Since joining the club from Real Sociedad in 2022, Isak has formed a great bond and friendship with Willock, though their injuries this season mean they’ve rarely shared a pitch together.

In what was an unbelievable season last year, the win against Tottenham in which Newcastle scored five in the first 21 minutes may just be the most memorable game of the whole campaign.

There were some pretty special goals scored in that game, but perhaps the most impressive was when Willock, on the halfway line, used the outside of his boot to curl the ball perfectly across the pitch and onto the path of Isak.

The Swedish striker was then able to fire his effort into the back of the net, his first of the game and Newcastle’s fourth after just 19 minutes, an unbelievable day at St James’ Park for more than one reason.

On Willock’s assist, Isak said: “For sure the best one. I’d like to have another one like that before the season ends.”
