Everton ace Jordan Pickford impresses versus Manchester United

Everton ace Jordan Pickford produced a “brilliant” save to deny Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.

That is according to Matt Holland, with the Toffees goalkeeper keeping out a free-kick in the first half at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils won the Premier League clash 2-0 on Saturday (9 March), with Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scoring the goals.

“He enjoyed this one,” said Holland, as per the official Premier League website. “At full stretch, it’s a brilliant save. Jumps early, kept himself in the air brilliantly.”

Pickford definitely needed to stay focused at Old Trafford, and he did just that for the majority of the match, with the England international only beaten by two spot-kicks.

His teammates James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey gave away those penalties for fouls on Alejandro Garnacho, with those moments ultimately defining the match.

The defensive pair will be disappointed with their decisions inside the box, but Toffees manager Sean Dyche will be disappointed with his entire team for their failure to take anything home from Old Trafford.

The hosts were not exactly at their best, but Erik ten Hag will be delighted that his players got the job done on home soil.

The Merseyside outfit now have a very long wait until their next game due to the FA Cup and the upcoming international break, with their trip to Bournemouth set to take place on 30 March, in another huge game for Everton.
