Everton pays respect to Jimmy Husband, a club legend who passed away at the age of 76. Husband was a member of the Toffees’ 1969–1970 championship squad.

As reported by the club’s official website, Husband died on Saturday following a short illness.

 

Born in Newcastle, Husband played for England at youth level and signed for Everton in 1964.

Capable of playing as a winger or a forward, he was part of the Everton side that won the league title in the 1969-70 season, scoring six goals. In total he scored 55 goals in 199 games for Everton and won the 1970 Charity Shield.

 

He won the FA Youth Cup in 1965 and was involved as Everton reached the final of the FA Cup in 1968, when the Toffees lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion, with Husband missing an inviting opportunity to score.Husband went on to play for Luton Town, for whom he scored 48 times,

 

He helped Luton to earn promotion to the First Division in the 1973-74 season.

 

Husband finished his career in the United States, representing Memphis Rogues, Cleveland Force and Oklahoma City Slickers.
