Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight announcement sparks outrage led by Conor McGregor and KSi as they say….

UFC legend Conor McGregor has given his verdict on the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Boxing superstar Tyson is set to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul in a boxing match on 20 July in Texas. There’s a whopping 30-year age gap between the two fighters and it’s not yet clear if the fight will be professionally sanctioned or an exhibition bout.

The fight has come in for backlash from some boxing voices, who not only call into question the integrity of the fight, but also whether Tyson’s welfare has been properly considered, especially by the younger Paul. McGregor is one of those not impressed.

He said, as per the Mirror: “It’s a bit strange. The interest is low. I don’t know. I don’t understand it. I wish well for Mike.” McGregor isn’t the only big name in combat sports who’s not impressed with the fight announcement.

Paul’s rival KSI commented: “50+ years old. No one wanted this… So sad to see man.” McGregor’s longtime teammate Dillon Danis wrote to Paul: “You’re fighting someone who was born in 1966. Have some shame.”

UFC star Michael Bisping told Paul: “You should be ashamed of yourself ad the biggest joke is you don’t even slightly realise why.”

Paul recently knocked out lesser-known boxer Ryan Bourland in his 10th professional fight. He previously fought as a professional boxer on the undercard of Tyson’s last bout against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. The highly-anticipated fight will be aired on Netflix, marking the streaming service’s first foray into live combat sports.

Paul said: “Whether you’re team Paul or team Tyson, or whether you’re a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you’re not going to want to miss this event.

“I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”
